Remove Dust With Ease

The easiest way to dust your home. We all have to dust our homes sooner or later because after a while, dust builds up on flat surfaces everywhere. This can make those surfaces look dirty and dull, and when left alone, the grime can actually cause scratching and damage to your tables and shelves. Dust is also the cause of allergies and breathing problems for many people. If you dust regularly, you won’t just be protecting your furniture because any family members that are sensitive to the floating particles will also also benefit from the clean surroundings. If you haven’t invented a tool like the one pictured above, then you’ll have to resort to regular stuff like the rest of us. Before you run out to the store and select one of the many tools they have to offer, and before you struggle another day with the inferior ones you are using now, continue reading to discover some fast, simple, safe and effective ways to get the job done.

What is Dust?

Dust is some pretty gross stuff. It’s comprised of human skin cells, fabric fibers, pet dander, dust mite excrement, regular dirt, pollen, hair, debris and micro particles. Each little piece is incredibly small and lightweight, and together they combine to form a fuzzy film on any surface they can settle on. The stuff that is too light to settle, and any that has been disturbed in some way, will remain floating around in the air in your home. The settled particles make surfaces dirty and cause things to look bad, and the the floating ones can enter your lungs by hitching a ride in the air you  breathe.

For people who have allergies, dust mites are the worst part about this notorious household grime. These little guys play the most significant role in all of the sniffling and sneezing that takes place as a result of inhaling the dirt and pollen particles. The teeny tiny, spider-like creatures are found in millions of homes, and they primarily live in carpets, mattresses and upholstered furniture. They thrive in humid and warm weather, and they feed off of the dirty conditions found in homes where regular cleaning does not take place. The mites feed on scales from human skin, and then poop it out like any other living thing. The waste products produced by these mites are highly allergenic, and the effects are long lasting without removal. The microscopic turds will even continue to cause allergic symptoms well after the mite that left them there has died.

The only way to eliminate dust allergies and other reactions is to remove and dispose of the problem. There is no pill you can take, or button you can push to make it all go away. Regular cleaning is the easiest and most effective way to guarantee cleanliness, and reduce allergic reactions. You get the visual benefit when that dull gray haze is lifted from the surface, but you also gain the health benefits of cleaner air, and less irritants and inhaled and ingested into your body.

The Easy Way to Dust

When people have trouble with this job, it’s usually because they are using the wrong tool. With so many sprays, rags, wands and electrical appliances out there, it’s difficult to know which product is best, and which will be a waste of money. So many of them require the use of toxic substances, or cause the dust to fly around and land somewhere new, and very few actually work as claimed. Despite the number of useless tools and proven failures offered at local stores, it is actually possible to get a tool that works well for this job, and it is possible to remove dust in any location without expensive products, professional help, or dangerous chemical compounds. If you look beyond the fancy names and colorful packaging offered by ginormous manufacturers and big box cookie cutter establishments, you will discover a whole host of affordable and effective alternatives that work better. Need to remove dust in hard to reach places? Our flexible dusting  wand can give you the same power as a cloth, but in a longer tool that is also, thin, rigid and flexible. A microfiber duster is ideal for ceiling fans, tall shelves, between appliances, or even on regular surfaces for those that prefer to stand farther away, and those that want to avoid touching dirt with their hands. It’s basically a bendable wand that has a high quality dusting sleeve made from microfiber material similar to that of the  cloth mentioned above, so it is just as effective at eliminating dust in a gentle manner that requires no additional sprays or chemicals.

Easily clean under your fridge, or up on a plant ledge, and never rely on stinky sprays, fancy vacuum attachments, or ladders and stools. You can use it as a hand held tool, or you can attach to an extension pole to get a longer reach. When flexing, it will take on any angle and hold it, so it can remain a straight wand, or it can be formed into an “L” shape or a loop for added versatility.

The outer cover can be removed for washing, so it’s completely reusable and long lasting, and it doesn’t require refills or additional purchases to keep it working. Bend into a loop to clean all sides of a fan blade at once, give it a ninety degree bend at the top to wipe clean ledges and high shelves, or keep it straight to dust regular surfaces, or tight places like under your dryer, behind the stove, or in between two appliances. This easy to use tool is safe for all surfaces, and it will quickly and easily lift up, and lock in small particles to leave wood, metal, glass and other surfaces free of dirt and looking spotless and polished.

  3. The handle will remain rigid, but the full white portion can bend and flex to any shape or angle. Set it to the shape you want, and then proceed to dust.
  4. When cleaning surfaces, move from one side to the next, and wipe in one direction.
  5. Once finished, remove the sleeve and rinse or machine wash for later use. It attaches with velcro, and is totally reusable.

Why Dust With Microfiber?

Microfiber cloths are a great choice for dusting because they grab and hold a ton of dust without releasing it into the air. Microfiber material is made of 80% polyester and 20% polyamide, and  each fiber is 100 times thinner than a human hair. The unique weave of this fabric enables it to pick up and hold debris better than any other cloth available. Tiny hooks and loops gently skim the surface and get under the dirt. It’s then picked up and stored in the cloth, leaving behind a shiny, streak-free surface, with no residue. Microfiber cleans and polishes at the same time. Whats even better is that it actually builds up a static charge as you clean with it. This charge helps to pull in the finest dust particles, and keeps them from flying around at the same time. The combined power of the hundreds of thousands of fibers per square inch and the static charge they create is unmatched for removing dust.

Using a microfiber cloth is one of the fastest and easiest ways to dust your home. It’s also significantly safer than traditional sprays and chemical soaked tools. When you use a microfiber dusting cloth to dust your home, you only need the cloth alone. Forget about  all those expensive, and hard to breathe products. Just grab your microfiber and you will be ready to clean surfaces all over your home. Just use it dry and you have the best cleaning rag you have ever used. The unique fibers do all the work for you, so it’s easily one of the best ways to tackle this job. No money spent on colorful cleaning liquids that leave sticky residues all over your home, and no refills or replacement parts to buy ever. It’s the ultimate in low cost cleaning, but it’s also much more powerful. You won’t get that same light headed feeling of accomplishment like you do with the toxic option you are using now, but you will remove more dust in less time while saving yourself money.

Static Duster

Another great tool that offers one of the fastest and easiest ways to remove dust all over your home is a static duster. These are not made from microfiber, but they do work in a similar way, and they will still provide one of the best methods due to how gentle and effective they are. As with the cloth and wand above, no sprays or chemicals are needed for good results, and the tool is not treated  with any either. This powerful wand is basically a thin metal rod that is super durable and totally flexible. Attached to this inner core are thousands of fine synthetic fibers. The individual strands are quite long, and overall, it sort of looks like a regular feather duster.

As far as how they work, the name says it all. You build a strong static charge in order to suck up dust like a magnet. Instead of chasing it around, or getting frustrated as you merely brush it to the ground, this tool will lift it up, and lock it in. Because it’s flexible like the microfiber one, you can also bend it into any shape or angle to allow for cleaning in almost any area. For really high stuff, we even have extension poles to stretch your reach. When compared to microfiber, this tool will produce a stronger charge, but overall effectiveness will really depend upon preference because they all work really well. Want to know more about this tool? Learn more about how static dusters work.

How To Use It

  1. To prepare for cleaning, build a charge for best results. Use a plastic grocery bag to grab and rub the fibers with an up and down motion.
  2. Once the fibers are sticking out and charged, you are ready to dust.
  3. If cleaning odd surfaces, or certain objects, bend to an ideal angle. It will hold any shape until you bend it back.
  4. Lightly float over any surface to completely eliminate dirt. The long fibers will stretch out to lift up dust and then hold it.
  5. Every piece of grime you touch will be lifted up and collected, and it will even pull in particles that are in close proximity.
  6. Once finished, hold over a trash can and shake to release the charge and drop all of the grime.
  7. Hand wash with soap if it gets dirty.
  8. Hang for storage.

Stop struggling with the dust in your home, and keep the sneezing to a minimum. Any of the tools listed above will make this job easy, and they will definitely outperform the ones you’ve used in the past. You don’t need to deal with a dirty home or constant allergies, and you don’t need to clean all day, or buy some fancy contraption to complete the job. Try one of the fast and effective tools above and be amazed by the value they provide in comparison to the low cost of purchase. The three listed above are top performers in the category, but we also have other options available that work equally well. If you love the idea of a more efficient tool to ease the dust clean up process, but you are not sold on the ones mentioned, please take a look at all of the dusting tools we carry, and you may find one that’s more to your liking.

  • Dear sir

i hav some questions on your Micro-fiber" cloth :
    - without getting wet with water, can the cloth remove dust as effective?
    - how to remove dust from the cloth after several times of using it?

    Thanks a million...

  • The cloth is extremely effective for removing dust when used dry. It is only for cleaning that you would dampen the cloth. Otherwise, use it dry to dust virtually any surface. After using the cloth you can rinse it clean under warm water, or throw it in the wash. They are totally machine washable and will stand up to hundreds of washings

  • No matter how clean the home, all mattresses are prone to the same problem. When we sleep, we produce up to half a liter of sweat every night & shed about a gram of skin each day and although we wear night clothes, which we wash regularly, together with our bed linen, this is no protection against what happens to the mattress.

Very quickly the mattress will become host to a multitude of horrors, from bacteria to fungal spores and microscopic house dust mites which feed off dead flakes of skin. Is it any wonder that without cleaning a mattress, it could be the dirtiest item in your home? It is estimated that there are up to 2 million house dust mites living in a mattress and in an average pillow, 10% of its weight is made up of dead skin and dust mites.

House dust mites find a mattress the perfect breeding ground. With warmth and moisture and no natural enemies, they will establish in a mattress within several months and it is their droppings which cause most problems. These have been medically proven to trigger a whole host of allergic reactions, from Asthma, Eczema and Bronchitis, to Itchy Eyes and Sneezing.

Even protective bedding sheets may be largely ineffective in reducing problems like asthma, when they are the only measure taken to combat an allergy (source: New England Journal of Medicine).

The idea of mattress cleaning isn't a new one. In other European countries and the United States, it has been performed for years. It's chemical-free, dry and all performed on site using specially designed state of the art equipment.

The current view of many experts is that dust mites are impossible to totally remove. This is true, it would be very expensive and almost impossible, but by knowing a little about them it is very feasible to make a dramatic impact on them and improve your dust mite allergy.

Therefore, if a combination of measures are undertaken, then the likelihood of some one's dust mite allergy improving will increase drastically.

Most suggestions will be to remove carpets and replace with hardwood floor, buy a good protective mattress cover, wash at 130+ degrees and clean regularly. However, while this may help, this is not the right answer for everybody and that is why when we come to you to clean your mattress, we can help in many other ways as well.
